Whaaaat?! I've been meaning to read your Substack for a very long time and the first time I do I come across "Eyliner Diner"? Rad! And that's your email for the zine as well? So cool. Makes me happy to see that lil phrase has an afterlife of its own. I agree wholeheartedly with your perspective here, making for making rather than the "hustle". I LOVE the idea of a Substack as a zine. I don't yet know what that could mean, but it's so appealing. I often refer to mine as collage or bricolage and now that potentially makes sense as zine-like. Anyway, keep doing what you love. We need the light and bright and fun as much as the dark, turgid shit that folks like me tend to write. 🤣 (Though I do consider mine to have plenty of humor and to be an honest and dogged search for light.)

Thanks for reading! Ooh, your Substack as a "bricolage," I like that.

And oh man, you have NO IDEA. I became obsessed with the words "Eyeliner Diner" when I first got my hands on Succulent Space Food for Teething Vampires as a teen, and over 20 years later I still reference it every chance I get. Blaster lyrics are some of the most memorable, hands down.

Dude I used to force myself to use InDesign because "that's what professionals use"; we got divorced last year and I've never been happier. Congrats on making the zine and keep doing public markets!! Also if you want some gonzo bullshit I'd love to do some art for you if you do more zines.

Yeah, me and InDesign were so incompatible we had to annul the marriage almost as soon as it began. What do you use instead, btw? Also, OH MAN I am 100% taking you up on that offer for my next Halloween zine!

Perfect, remind me! I fill in Illustrator needs on a case by case basis with InDesign and Photoshop, as far as I can tell Illustrator is only necessary if you need to work in a lot of vectors. Which I do not.

You're right! I think the issue is sometimes I let the doubt make me forget I'm an artist. Nut you're totally right.
